- Professional Background:
-
I have been a
California licensed, practicing Marriage and Family Therapist since
1979. I developed the curriculum for a clinical training
program in Alcohol/Drug counseling, directed and taught in that venue from 1981-94. I
also taught Counseling Skills to professional counselors, and
students in training to become counselors both at UCSC Extension and the University of San Francisco. I
served on the Board of SC-CAMFT, a branch of the California
Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I co-founded and am on the steering committee of
the Santa Cruz Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Society.
-
I completed
four year-long training programs with the San Francisco Institute
for Contemporary Psychoanalysis and numerous trainings by the other
major SF Bay area psychoanalytic training institutes. During my years developing
curriculum for UCSC Extension, I was privileged to study with many
of the major contributors to contemporary psychotherapy practices in humanistic, cognitive
behavioral and family systems therapies. I completed an
18-month internship in structural family therapy. I have received many years of on-going consultation and supervision
with Monterey and SF Bay Area therapists and psychoanalysts.
